With a publication date of July 1965, Phoenix 1965 does not reflect a full year as its predecessors have done. Original work by the 1963 intake is represented by Janet Diamond (form 2B), David Butcher (2C), Lynne Smith (2B), Jacqueline Last (2B), Elizabeth Cowell (2B), and theree pieces from Martyn Bowles (2B). Form 2B seeming to make up for their lack of selection in Phoenix 1964? Among other pupils mentioned are Griffiths and Saltern who both represented Spartan House in the Junior Speech Trophy Competition. A selection of items from this issue of the magazine have been extracted for inclusion on this web site - Staff Changes, Music Notes, Sporting Achievements - where references to staff and pupils may be of interest. Additionally this issue of Phoenix also included a number of pieces from the early (1930-1935) years of the school and magazine, and a number of these items have been selected as a History of Drayton Manor's Early Days.
