Phoenix 1968   After the experiment of two school magazines for the 1966-67 year- one for the school year review, the other for original work - the editorial team decided to revert to the single magazine approach for Phoenix 1968.

The magazine editorial also noted that:
"Readers may have noticed the omission of a list of prefects from this magazine. This, of course, is because th e prefectorial system was abolished at the beginning of the 1967-8 academlc year. The responsibility for prefects’ duties now rests with the whole of the Upper Sixth."

The Staff Changes record the departure of two stalwarts of the Drayton Manor teaching staff - Miss Fine and Mr Behmber. The death of Mrs Andrews who taught Commercial Studies is also recorded.

Reports from School Clubs and Societies that mention members of the "1963 intake" include the Astronomy Club, Biology Society, Chess Team, Film Society and Folk Club. Other activities were our year made their mark were the Senior Speech Trophy Competition, and the German Exchange Visit.

Members of the Staff demonstrated their thespian ability in a performance of "The Imaginary Invalid", which was of the productions supported by the Stage Crew.

Only one piece of original work from a 63er (the ubiquitous P Durrans) - written in 5C appears. Sporting achievements are also noted.
